Our area borders on 2 Living Landscapes, as recognised by Essex Wildlife Trust, Essex County Council and Basildon Council, which extend from the Plotlands and the Wildlife Trust reserve in the west, through the Langdon Hills country parks and reserves and land North of Dry Street across the golf course to the Pitsea marshes and Wat Tyler complex. Wat Tyler Park almost touches on the Hadleigh Castle Country Park, providing a huge area of public open space across this part of South Essex. Now your local LibDem councillors, in support of the joint management vision for these living landscapes, would like to see the whole area recognised as one entity. It could even be a National Park. It has a huge diversity of habitat for wildlife and is enormously rich in natural plant life. The area provides a much needed green lung for the hundreds of thousand of people who live in S.Essex and will be even more important as The Thames Gateway expands.
