The Festival began in 1961 with Sections for Piano, Strings, Recorders, Singing, Speech & Drama. Our aim is to encourage the enjoyment & participation in music & drama and to raise standards using the help of professional adjudicators we are experts in their field of the Performing Arts. The Chelmsford Competitive Festival of Music and Drama is affiliated to The British and International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance and Speech of Which Her Majesty The Queen is Patron.
