Colchester Cross Stitch and Craft Club, meeting once a month, for people we enjoy stitching, crafts and social company. We started life back in the 1980’s as Colchester Cross Stitch Club. A lady placed an advert in the local paper inviting people who enjoyed doing cross stitch, to meet at her flat once a month. Five people met that first time, and they enjoyed coffee, cross stitch and conversation. When those people came the next month, they brought along some friends, and soon the five were twelve. Their meetings and membership progressed from the flat to other members houses, and then to a small hall. After a few years of meeting at the Arena Leisure Centre, we moved to the Hythe Community Centre in January 2003, where we continue to meet once a month.
